Saturday Arts Social: The Stories That Made Us

Saturday Arts Social is a multi-arts programme and morning tea designed for our 60+ community. We gather every Saturday morning for a broad programme of events including concerts, art workshops, dance/movement classes and artist talks.

This session offers a welcoming space to share and celebrate the stories that have shaped our lives. Up to four participants will have the opportunity to tell a personal story (approximately 5–7 minutes), with gentle guidance and encouragement from Julian. Sharing is entirely optional, and listening is equally valued. Come along to connect, reflect, laugh, and discover the richness of the experiences that make our community unique.

About your facilitator:

Julian Noel (Ngāti Whātua, Ngāpuhi) hails from the Hokianga, Kaikohe, and Dargaville region and now calls Tāhuna (Queenstown) home. A graduate of Melbourne's prestigious VCA School of Drama, Julian has worked as an actor, storyteller, entrepreneur, and speaker for more than four decades.

His career has taken him from stage, television, and film to founding successful businesses, coaching leaders and entrepreneurs, and facilitating more than 400 workshops, events, and gatherings across 15 countries. Today, he focuses on writing, performance, and helping people uncover and share the stories that matter most.

Known for his warmth, humour, and ability to create genuine connection, Julian brings a wealth of experience in storytelling, public speaking, performance, and creative leadership. His recent one-man play, BONES, explores family, identity, ancestry, and belonging through the power of story.
