Te Wāhi Toi/The Arts Place exists to connect the creative community of Queenstown and Wānaka with audiences, students, teachers, spaces and each other. We are a not-for-profit organisation powered by Three Lakes Cultural Trust and inspired by local arts and culture.
With a PhD in Chemistry from the University of London, she transitioned from a successful career as a nanotechnology-focused scientist and patent attorney into the world of art. This transition has brought a distinctive analytical perspective to her work, allowing her to approach painting with a scientific eye.
Katie Robinson's artistic evolution continues to be driven by her scientific roots, as well as her upbringing in Otago, and the Central Otago scenery. She is inspired by contrast - in colour, light, temperature and viewpoint - and is enjoying including both interior and exterior views into her more recent works.
