Sophie is a watercolour and acrylic artist creating from her home studio beside Mt Iron in Wanaka. She creates serene art and fills it with concepts of awareness to engage and encourage you to reflect. Her art is inspired by the mountains, lakes and beaches and the clouds that surround New Zealand and overseas. Her painting style is intuitive and suggests a feeling of completeness.

'Through my art I seek to evoke an inner calm and sense of purpose with my interpretations of mountains, lakes, beaches and clouds. I paint with a limited colour palette which acts as a poignant reminder of the moments of clarity gained from the effects of stillness and awareness.'

I also host abstract watercolour workshops in Queenstown and Wanaka in spring and autumn. You'll learn how to trust your creativity (even if you feel like you don't have any) as well as release the emotion that's holding you back. Then I'll teach you how to create intuitive abstract watercolour paintings while offering my wisdom on art failures that turned to successes as well as sharing a plant-based lunch. You'll leave feeling connected, creative and nourished.
