Community Sing is an open, drop-in choir for everyone in the community. It's free and open to all! No registration required. April's session will take place on Tuesday 7 April, and is led by Queenstown vocalist Violet Hirst.

7 April: Songs to Stay Young with Violet Hirst

In this session participants will learn basic and simple vocal techniques to apply to group singing. We will warm our bodies, and apply this knowledge to sing two simple and well-known songs, aimed at helping you feel young! Simple harmonies, vocal timings and sharing in the joy of singing.

About the facilitator: Born and raised here in Tāhuna Queenstown, Violet was raised in a family of musicians and performers. She is a singer/songwriter and music tutor who has released a debut album of original music and recently has returned from a nationwide solo tour. Violet is passionate about music and its ability to open us, and help understand more about ourselves. Her practice involves dancing, singing and improvisation.
