This workshop explores memory through drawing. What to Expect:
• Beginner-friendly. Whether you’re a complete novice or have some experience, this workshop will guide you through the fundamentals of charcoal drawing.
• Explore techniques: We’ll cover various charcoal types, mark-making, blending, erasing, and layering techniques.
• Express yourself: Discover the expressive potential of charcoal, from bold, dramatic strokes to subtle nuanced shading.
• Create your own artwork: With guidance you’ll develop the skills and confidence to create your own unique charcoal drawing.
Together, we’ll create images that act as a memory impression. Memory often shifts from something clear, vivid, and defined to something blurred, out of focus, overexposed, or even fragmented and damaged. These ideas will guide our medium selection and drawing process as we explore ways to document or record memory.
